There is a new exciting opportunity for those who want to study in Italy: the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is offering grants for those wishing to enrol in an academic course in Italy for the academic year 2019/2020. The grants are available for foreign citizens not residing in Italy and Italian citizens living abroad, and the deadline for applying is 30 May 2019. Georgia is in the countries included in this initiative.

Types of courses eligible for grants
The grants are available for different types of courses:
PhD Programmes, for a period of 6 or 9 months. A letter of acceptance by the Italian university is required. Applicants should not be over 30 years old at the time of the deadline.
Laurea Magistrale (Master’s Degree), for a period of study of 6 or 9 months. To be admitted to a Laurea Magistrale course, the student must have already obtained a Bachelor’s Degree, and might be asked to pass an entry exam. The maximum age is 28 years old as of 30 May 2019.
Courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance. Admission requirements for these courses depend on the single university or institute and may require an admission test. Applicants should be 28 years old or younger to be eligible.
Research under academic supervision, for 6 or 9 months, in an Italian Research Institute (e.g. CNR – Italian Research Council, Italian National Institute of Health etc.). The maximum age to apply is 40.
Italian language and culture courses, for a period of 3 months. Students who apply need to be attending an Italian course at a university and must provide a certificate of Italian language proficiency (minimum A2 level). They must be 28 or younger to be eligible.
Lanuage requirements
For courses taught in Italian, applicants should provide proof of their proficiency in Italian (B2 level). For courses taught in English, a proficiency certificate in English (also B2 level) is required, but proof of proficiency in Italian is not needed. For Italian language and courses, a certificate of proficiency in Italian (A2 level) is required.
Other information
The monthly allowance for each grant is 900 Euros. MAECI will also cover health and accident insurance for those selected.The grants are not compatible with other grants awarded by the Italian government or other Italian public institutions
